André–Marie Ampere and Electrodynamics

Considered, presumably, by those who know what electrodynamics is; this is the term that Ampere used to refer to what we know today as electromagnetism.

Ampere is one of a host of scientists listed by Wikipedia as having been involved in the development of the theory of electromagnetism. He is however described as "the father of electrodynamics" on something called timelineindex.com.

When I googled "father of electromagnetism", the first hit was Wikipedia's page for William Sturgeon, an English physicist and inventor (born in the village of Whittington, near Lancaster) who made the first electromagnets.
